CZM Foundation Equipment of Savannah, Ga., has joined forces with RTI Equipment Solutions of Innisfil, Ont., to expand their comprehensive line of foundation drilling equipment into Canada.
CZM offers a full line of drilling rigs engineered for a variety of foundation applications, all manufactured in the USA using Caterpillar bases and designed by their own team of skilled engineers.
In the March 2024 announcement of the company’s new Canadian dealership, Giuliano Clo, CEO of CZM, said, “With their deep understanding of the heavy machine market and strong reputation for quality service, we are confident that RTI will enhance our presence in the Canadian market.”
RTI Equipment Solutions has been serving the construction industry in Ontario for more than 10 years and is experienced in all makes and models of heavy equipment.
“We are a family business,” said Andrea Tuzi, president and CEO of RTI. “I started out as a heavy equipment mechanic, and in 2013, my father and I opened our own heavy equipment repair business.”
Since then, Tuzi has grown RTI into offering new equipment sales after taking on Hyundai Construction Equipment in 2019, and further again into rentals and their own trucking division. As the exclusive Canadian dealer for CZM, RTI will continue to grow its reputation for being a one-stop shop for anything involving heavy equipment.
“We are handling the entire line of CZM’s deep foundation equipment, including their micro-piling equipment, as well as all the services,” said Tuzi. “We’re the first dealer for CZM in Canada, and because there are no others, we are covering the [entire] country. We can order equipment from CZM and pick it up directly from their facility in Georgia. From there, we bring it to our facility for inspection and then ship it where it’s needed.”
Whether it’s fleet expansion or buying that first piece of heavy equipment, RTI can provide expert guidance to help make informed decisions. The extensive inventory of equipment and parts covers the diverse needs of construction, mining, agriculture and other heavy industries such as deep foundations. Meanwhile, RTI’s flexible rental solutions allow access to high-quality heavy equipment for short- or long-term projects. To fulfill this need, about 50 per cent of ordered equipment goes to rentals.
When it comes to the service department, RTI has a large and heavily equipped shop with skilled technicians ready to repair intricate components or install new parts and attachments. Using cutting-edge technology and innovative techniques, the service team can handle all routine maintenance, complex repairs and upgrades, ensuring the equipment that leaves the shop will operate at peak performance.
Whether it’s engine refurbishment, hydraulic system overhaul or transmission restoration, RTI’s team of technicians can disassemble, inspect and refurbish machines and their integral parts as a cost-effective and sustainable alternative to purchasing new equipment.
“We are getting extensive training from CZM as we come on board,” said Tuzi. “We’re sending our people to Georgia, and their training and service managers are coming to our facility to train our technicians on all aspects of CZM equipment.”
TI also offers on-location field service in recognition of the importance of maintaining heavy machinery. This service spans routine maintenance, intricate repairs and parts replacement right on the job site. The truck service, operated by professional drivers, makes sure equipment gets to wherever it’s needed efficiently and on time. By using their own equipment, the company isn’t slowed down or complicated by outsourcing, giving them the ability to keep things moving.
“I am closely involved with the day-to-day operations,” said Tuzi. “I feel this is what has enabled us to build into what we are today. At the same time, we don’t want to be that company that grows too large and becomes complacent. We want to always maintain the highest level of service and we won’t compromise on that.”
It’s all part of RTI’s commitment to giving the heavy equipment market what it needs and when it needs it, and it’s also part of why this partnership with CZM is a worthwhile combination.
“CZM has a very good reputation for their equipment,” said Tuzi. “But it’s also important that we’re dealing with really good people, a family-oriented business that’s well-run, well-structured and at the same time is flexible and negotiable. The owners are directly involved in the business, and that translates into great communication, which is not common from an original equipment manufacturer.
They have a great deal of pride in their products, making sure from early development to the end user that everybody has the information and necessary training along the way. That type of support goes a long way in our world.”
RTI is ready and excited for this partnership with CZM – the next phase in RTI’s growth and dedication to the heavy equipment industry in Canada.
