Manufactured and assembled in the U.S., REV Drill is a multi-purpose drill attachment capable of many drilling applications at a quarter of the price of big specialty rigs.

“REV Drill is an excavator mounted foundation drill attachment,” said REV Drill president Ed Amos. “The attachment can be removed, and the excavator stick and bucket reinstalled in minutes. Transportation costs are a fraction of super-sized rigs.”

Originating as a drilling contractor, REV Drill, with headquarters in Frederick, Md., has evolved into a business that designs, builds, sells and rents a wide range of economical drilling solutions. Offering a full line of tooling, onsite consulting and world class service, REV Drill equipment is used at sites in Canada and the U.S.

“We are in the process of expanding our presence in Canada,” said Amos. “We have resources that will get equipment across the border and to the site in Canada. Whether a new location or teaming up with an existing distributor, our goal is to have that presence in Canada in 2025. The U.S. and Canada share many of the same deep foundation designs. Our experience in the (U.S.) helps us support our Canadian clients.”

Incomplete paperwork and dirty equipment can occasionally cause delays in the getting equipment across the border, but REV Drill’s logistics department handles everything for the client, and Amos says that the company has control over such challenges and usually does not encounter issues. Available with 24/7 support and service, REV Drill is ready to tackle the various climate and site conditions in Canada.

“It can be a challenge,” said Amos. “We have worked in extreme conditions in Canada with success. REV drills require the same preparation as any heavy equipment. The drills can be prepped to handle tough climates. We are available 24/7. We can always commit to our clients within 24 hours by sending a service technician, sending tooling when job conditions change or sending a consultant for on-site support.”

REV Drill’s 30 years of drilling experience allows the company to guide customers to use the drill, tooling and methods that will work best with the engineered plan requirements, site and soil conditions. REV Drill comes in a variety of drill lengths and configurations to match any excavator. REV Drill’s consulting team can help identify the equipment needed to complete a job and can provide equipment operator training if required.

“REV Drill is committed to supplying quality equipment and products that focus on our clients’ success,” said Amos. “The REV Drill design and fabrication team offers their experience to develop solutions that meet project requirements.”

REV drills are self-erecting and easy to mobilize on a jobsite in one load. They can be used for many vertical and horizontal drilling applications, including foundation piers, sound barrier piers, beam retaining walls, rock drilling and blast hole drilling. Other performance applications include:

  • Short auger: the short auger is attached to the end of the drill’s Kelly bar to drill dirt and/or rock. Casing pipe or polymer slurry can be used when holes will not remain open.
  • Tiebacks/anchors: by removing the drill’s Kelly bar and using alternate tooling, many types of anchors can be installed in vertical and horizontal positions.
  • Down-the-hole (DTH) hammer/cluster drill: by removing the drill’s Kelly bar and using a DTH hammer or cluster drill, REV Drill can effectively drill through some of the hardest rock formations. An air compressor is required to run the DTH hammer or cluster drill.
  • Continuous flight auger: can be used in place of the drill’s Kelly bar for many applications, ranging from six-inches to 30-inches in diameter, including pre-drilling for piles and steel, auger cast piles, dewatering, low headroom applications, pre-drilling for wick drains and soil nails.
  • Vibratory hammer: can be used on the REV Drill to drive a variety of piles for many different applications, including solar installations, sheet pile installation, H-pile installation, pipe pile installation, and advancing probes used for compaction grouting and jet grouting.
  • Marine: REV drills can be used for many different marine applications, including sheet piling for bulk heads, pipe pile installation for pier and dock foundations, H-pile installation for marine foundations and tiebacks for bulkhead anchors.

By manufacturing and assembling in the U.S., REV Drill maintains a high standard of quality for product materials and assembly quality control, assuring that parts are easily accessible and in stock.

“We pride ourselves on our experience and service,” said Amos. “Our main goal is to help contractors self-perform more projects by utilizing our experience and expertise. We love getting plans and helping create solutions to projects. We understand the challenges contractors face, which is why we partner with them every step of the way throughout the job process from bidding to building to drilling. Building a long-term relationship is our main focus.”
