Harper Government
expands training and
skills development
opportunities for women
On July 7, 2015, the Honourable
Michelle Rempel, Minister of State for
Western Economic Diversification,
announced an investment of
$2,097,375 to expand the Women
Building Futures’ (WBF) Heavy
Equipment Operator (HEO) Program.
Well-known companies, such as
Emeco, Finning Canada, Immersive
Technologies, Imperial, Lehigh
Hanson, Mammoet Canada Western
Ltd. and SureHire, support the WBF
HEO Program by providing WBF with
access to services and resources that
ensure women receive the skills and
experience needed to pursue their
careers.
“Our government is committed to
ensuring Canadians have the necessary
skills and training they need to
fill available jobs in our economy,” said
Rempel. “We are proud to support this
collective initiative, which will not
only increase economic opportunities
for women by providing them with the
skills they need to succeed, but also
help to develop the talent required for
the growth of our economy.”
Quick facts:
• Federal funding will support the
equipment purchase of two 100-ton
haul trucks, a loading tool and
simulators, as well as simulator
support packages, conversion kits
and e-learning modules.
• By 2020, WBF anticipates to have
close to 100 HEO program graduates
per year.
Kelly Tractor Co. introduces
IMT AF300E hydraulic
drilling rig to North America
Kelly Tractor Co., a leading provider
of construction equipment throughout
the United States and Canada, has
added the IMT AF300E Tier 4 drill rig
to its sales and large rental fleet. With
this introduction, Kelly continues to
expand its leadership in the foundation
drilled shaft industry as the only
dealer in North America to offer the
next generation of IMT drill rigs.
The new IMT AF300E hydraulic
drilling rig, available in either standard
mast (left in photo) or LCA (right
in photo) configuration, is built on
a Caterpillar power module with a
C13 Tier 4 engine package. With its
standard 4 element, 46-metre kelly
bar, the rig develops 228,645 ft-lb of
drilling torque at the tool.

Co. “This rig configuration is exactly
what contractors have been asking
for.”
