Keller Canada’s work on the Suncor Fort
Hills project, since first being awarded a
comprehensive load test program late
2013, has been growing steadily and are
now involved in four separate project
scopes across:
• Utilities and off-sites (U&O)
• Ore-preparation (OPP)
• Extraction and tailings (E&T) and;
• Secondary extraction.

Early Engagement –
Load Testing – Site Wide
Keller Canada was engaged early on
the Suncor Fort Hills project (the
largest capital project currently being
undertaken in Alberta), due to our past
experience, reputation, capabilities
and competitiveness.
Keller Canada was awarded a contract
for the supply, installation and
load testing of 15 driven steel pipe piles.
Full-scale top down static load tests,
lateral load tests and tension tests were
conducted on 20 inch, 24 inch, 30 inch,
and 36-inch diameter steel pipes to
loads as high as 12.0 MN (1,350 tons).
All testing was conducted in general
accordance with ASTM D1143, D3966,
and tension specifications.
