LETTER FROM THE EDITOR
Moving across the country, coverage of the Turcot Project
that is being completed in Montreal can be found on page 53.
This massive undertaking is to update the ageing infrastruc-ture
of the interchange and consists of four job sites which
must allow the 300,000 daily vehicles that travel the area to
continue their business seamlessly. Military precision has
definitely been used in the planning of this project!
For our new readers, if you’d like to receive Piling Canada
in the mail or join the quarterly e-newsletter list, please
don’t hesitate to contact me. If your company works in
Canada, we’d also love to write about you and your proj-ects
in the magazine. The process is easy and I’m happy to
tell you more! Be sure to follow Piling Canada on Twitter,
Facebook and LinkedIn, and view our digital edition archives
at PilingCanada.ca.
On a personal note, I’m excited to be joining the Piling
Canada team to continue bringing you the stories that
matter most in this industry. I love feedback and comments,
and am always open to suggestions, so if you know of a story
you’d love to see in here, drop me a line.
Cheers!

Passing
the Torch
I’m sure that you’ve noticed a new face writing the editor’s
letter on the previous and opposite page; Lindsay Risto
joined the team at Lester Communications earlier this
year. She was able to meet several Piling Canada readers
and advertisers at the International Foundations Congress
and Equipment Expo 2018 in Orlando in March, and she has
officially taken over the lead editor role for Piling Canada
moving forward. By flipping through this edition, you can tell
that she’s already hit the ground running.
I have enjoyed working on Piling Canada so much over
the past several years, and I’m looking forward to seeing
what Lindsay can do for the magazine as she settles into her
role. This issue is a great start and our readers will continue
to see the high level of content you’ve come to expect from
us. As Lindsay mentioned in her editor’s letter, she is open
to your article suggestions and looks forward to hearing
from companies who are interested in being featured in the
magazine’s editorial.
As for myself, I’ve taken a more behind-the-scenes role
beginning with this Quarter 2 edition. I took on the publisher
role at Lester Communications in late 2016, but have had a
hard time giving up my editorial responsibilities on several
projects that I love working on, Piling Canada included. I will
be temporarily departing in July to go on maternity leave, but
will be back later on in 2018. Our readers and advertisers are
in excellent hands with Lindsay.
I hope that you enjoy this issue of Piling Canada; we feel
very fortunate to be your resource for the Canadian deep
foundation construction industry.
Have a safe, busy and enjoyable summer!
Happy reading,
Jill Harris
