celebrates 120 years
In October 2017, Bermingham
Foundation Solutions of
Hamilton, Ont. celebrated its
120th year in business. The
company celebrated with a
private function. According
to Bermingham’s hometown
local paper, The Hamilton
Spectator, in an article about
the milestone anniversary, William Bermingham started
the company in 1897, installing steel rail tracks through
the Crowsnest Pass in the Rockies for the Canadian Pacific
Railway. Originally Kingston based, William’s son, John,
moved the company to Hamilton’s bayfront after World War
II due to the city’s growing steel industry.
Bermingham brought the first diesel impact hammer to
North America in the early 1950s, according to the company’s
website, and started developing their own line of foundation
specialty equipment in the late 1960s. Part of what makes
Bermingham unique in the foundation equipment manufacturing
world is that the company also operates as a
contractor.
